Job Description
We are recruiting for a professional Senior Commodity Buyer for a high profile manufacturing client based in Birmingham. You will need to have extensive Automotive Industry experience for this role.
There is a two stage interview process in the hiring process.
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
Relevant degree qualification or equivalent (CIPS qualified/working towards CIPS)
Strong leadership skills (Coaching and training new and existing team members).
Direct procurement of materials and parts for manufacture
Management of direct material spend
Delivery of year on year cost savings
Evidence of supply chain improvements
Strong relationship building with the engineering team
Interpretation of engineering drawings.
Managing Bills of material
Deliver sourcing projects to achieve financial and non financial objectives
Sourcing requirements through full tender process
Sourcing projects and control process ensuring cost and time targets are met
Supplier engagement
The ability to negotiate. Planning and running negotiations
Analysis of second tier supplier costs
Bench Marking
Monitoring of commodity global prices and trends
Influencing cost drivers
Ensure that all QHSE legislation is adhered to
Follow procedures
Identify improvement opportunities
Skills :
To deliver the savings targets set out in the group budget.
To ensure that all New Product Information (NPI) Bill of material (BOM) targets are met.
Ensure strong supplier Quality/Cost/Delivery (QCD) performance
Continually propose Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) savings generated through the supply chain.
