Programme Description
The Graduate Chemist will join our client and undertake a 12mth training programme where they will gain an all round view and understanding of hazardous waste management compliance and operations.
The candidate will have exposure across the business learning about the waste industry while utilising the skills gained during their degree.
Modules will be completed on quarterly rotation allowing the Graduate Chemist to gain an understanding and demonstrate their effectiveness across the following areas
Technical Pre Acceptance
Site Operations Waste IN and Waste OUT
Compliance Non Conformances Stock control and QC system management
Lab work Sampling Acceptance
Both modules involve practical hands on tasks as well as technical work. Colleagues will be assessed at the end of each module.
The role is fixed term for a period of 12mths. Colleagues will be offered a suitable opportunity subject to suitable completion of the learning programme at the end of the 12mth period. Colleagues are eligible to apply for any internal opportunities following completion of initial probationary period 3mths.
Module 1 Technical and Site Operations Months 1 to 6
During this module you will divide you time between the technical department and Site Chemist operations. This will enable the Graduate Chemist to follow the waste from the very beginning of the Job request through to Acceptance and Storage onto site.
Module 2 Compliance and Laboratory Months 6 to 12
During this module you will divide your time between Site Stock control and Compliance and Laboratory work. The module will enable the Graduate Chemist to gain a more detailed understanding of the Compliance and regulatory requirements of Acceptance and Storage and gain hands on experience of product acceptance sampling tanker compatibility sampling product labelling non conformances waste validation and stock control.
Skills :
To be considered for this role you must hold a either a chemistry degree or related .
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
An adaptive and problem solving approach to tasks with good organisational verbal and written skills
Experience within the environmental waste or chemical industry would be an advantage but not necessarily essential for the right candidate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The successful candidate with be able to expand and develop the role and work in line with our competence and business compliance training.
