Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in designing and delivering on-premise server migrations?
I''m recruiting for an established and growing business looking to strengthen its internal IT team with an experienced Infrastructure & Systems Engineer. This is an opportunity to take ownership of infrastructure projects, improve existing systems and play a key role in the ongoing development and security of the IT environment.
The business operates across multiple UK and international locations, so this is a varied role offering exposure to a broad technology landscape.
The Role
Working closely with the Head of IT and wider technical team, you''ll be responsible for maintaining, developing and improving the company''s IT infrastructure.
A major focus of the position will be designing and delivering on-premise server migrations, infrastructure upgrades and refresh projects. You''ll also provide technical expertise across servers, virtualisation, networking, cybersecurity and Microsoft technologies.
This isn''t simply a helpdesk or IT support position. We''re looking for someone with the technical depth and experience to take ownership of infrastructure projects and deliver improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver on-premise to on-premise server migrations.
Administer and maintain Windows Server environments.
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy and access controls.
Support and maintain Hyper-V virtualisation environments.
Deliver server upgrades, infrastructure refreshes and platform improvements.
Support SQL Server, IIS and Remote Desktop Services.
Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
Monitor, patch and maintain server and endpoint security.
Support Microsoft 365 Hybrid, Azure/Entra ID and Intune environments.
Assist with network infrastructure, including switches, VLANs, firewalls and VPNs.
Implement cybersecurity controls and vulnerability remediation.
Develop automation processes using PowerShell.
Act as a technical escalation point for the IT Service Desk.
Maintain technical documentation and contribute to infrastructure planning.
What We''re Looking For
At least 6–8 years'' experience in IT infrastructure engineering or administration.
Extensive experience designing and delivering on-premise server-to-server migrations.
