Afternoon School Cleaner

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking School Cleaner to join our team. As an integral part of our cleaning staff, you will contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Cleaning Supervisor, your allocated tasks will vary over time, but you’ll always play a vital role in ensuring high standards of cleanliness across the school site.

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake cleaning duties in assigned areas, following instructions from the Cleaning Supervisor.
- Operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and polishers, to clean both soft and hard surfaces.
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including:
- Vacuuming carpets and hard floors.
- Spot cleaning spills promptly.
- Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, painted surfaces, and doors.
- Polishing door glass and straightening furniture.
- Emptying and sanitising bins.
- Cleaning toilets, including sanitary fittings and surrounding areas.
- Mopping and spray-cleaning hard floors.
- Replenish janitorial supplies in toilet areas and other designated spaces as needed.
- Conduct end-of-shift checks, ensuring windows are closed, lights are switched off, and the site is secure.

Skills & Experience Required
- Prior cleaning experience is preferred but not essential — training will be provided.
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery safely and effectively.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness.
- Responsible and reliable, with the ability to follow instructions.
- A proactive and positive attitude, contributing to a supportive team environment.
